Assets Tracking Service
Assets Tracking Service
- Start date
- 30 January, 2023
- End date
- 30 January, 2033
The Assets Tracking Service shows where BAS ships, aircraft and vehicles are at any given time.
This information is typically used in maps to show where things are, but can be used in any tool, and by anyone, that needs an up to date, reliable, position of one or more tracked assets including:
ships (the SDA)
aircraft (the Dash 7 and Twin Otters)
vehicles (snowmobiles, Pisten Bullys, loaders, etc.)
Positions are checked roughly every 5 minutes, however assets may not be updated as frequently depending on where they are, or if they are not in use. See the Data tab for links to available datasets and visualisations of popular BAS assets.
Updates to this dataset may pause during system maintenance or for other operational reasons.
This service is free to use by anyone. Full documentation and source code is available on our GitHub.
This service is operated by the Mapping and Geographic Information Centre (MAGIC). Please contact us if you have any questions or feedback.
