Ravindra Desai
BAS Honorary Researcher
Biography
Ravindra Desai is an Honorary Researcher at the British Antarctic Survey and an Ernest Rutherford Fellow at the University of Warwick. His research interests focus on astrophysical plasmas and how they intersect with, and pose dangers to, our increasingly technology-dependent society. This is a concept of particular importance over the East Antarctic region where the Earth’s magnetic field is weaker and as a result particle radiation levels are much higher than elsewhere. He closely collaborates with the BAS Space Weather and Atmospheres team.
Ravindra completed a PhD at UCL’s Mullard Space Science Laboratory in 2018, which included time at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico, and NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre, Maryland. Following this, he worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London’s Blackett Laboratory, before joining the University of Warwick in 2022.
