Bryn Ubald
Research Software Engineer
Biography
Bryn is a Research Software Engineer within the Digital Innovation Team. His main focus is on the development of IceNet and its applications with external partners, which is a deep learning sea-ice forecasting system with a wide range of operational uses. There are many aspects to this system which can be generalised and applied to other projects and he will over time be working towards that goal.
Prior to joining BAS, he was a Research Associate in Data-Centric Engineering at the Alan Turing Institute, working on using Gaussian Processes for Engineering applications, using computer vision to monitor aircraft landing/takeoff, and research software development.
Before joining the Turing, he completed a PhD focusing on Computational Fluid Dynamics in Turbomachinery and a Masters in Aerospace Engineering, focusing on pollution modelling across central London using environmental wind tunnels.
