Biography
I am a PhD student in the Atmosphere, Ice and Climate team at BAS, in partnership with the IAPETUS2 DTP, Durham University Department of Biosciences and Woodwell Climate Research Center’s Arctic team.
The PhD is titled “Fanning the flames: past and future links between climate change and fire activity across boreal forests”. The project aims to elucidate the processes and drivers involved in fire-climate interactions in the Siberian and North American boreal forests, subsequently to see to what extent climate change is responsible for increases in fire disturbance in different areas, and finally to understand the likely impact of projected climate change on the frequency of future forest fires. A three-month placement was conducted at Woodwell Climate Research Center in 2023, working with Dr Brendan Rogers, Stefano Potter, Dr Joshua Rady, Dr Anna Talucci, Dr Yili Yang and Dr Helene Genet (University of Alaska Fairbanks).
My project is supervised by Dr Gareth Marshall (BAS), Professor Robert Baxter (Durham) and Dr Scott Hosking (BAS).
