Ship-borne imager system
Ship-borne imager system
This system is comprised of three 1 degree field of view instruments that measure the OH airglow emission at ~87 km altitude. The are fixes to the top deck of the RSs James Clark Ross. The use the pitch and roll of the ship when it is moving to scan the sky. these data are then analysed to extract information on gravity wave parameters above the oceans. These waves are the main driver of atmospheric circulation in this region.
