Kirsty Brown returns to the UK
It is expected that the body of marine biologist Kirsty Brown (see earlier press release) will return to the UK later this week. She will return from the Falkland Islands on a RAF Tri-star to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. The Falkland Islands Coroner has released Kirsty’s body for burial following a post-mortem. The Inquest will be held in Port Stanley, Falkland Islands in late September – early October. The funeral will take place on Friday 5 September at 3.00pm at Church of the Holy Innocents in Southwater, Near Horsham. Friends and family from the UK and overseas are expected to attend. Kirsty’s family have set up a charity with two research aims. A short-term project into the behaviour of Leopard Seals and a longer-term geology project which is not yet decided. Donations can be sent to the family direct. Cheques payable to the ‘Kirsty Brown Fund’ should be sent to: Swains, Marlpost Road, Southwater, Horsham, Sussex, RH13 9BY or British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge.
Notes to Journalists:
The family have requested that media respect their privacy and do not film or take photographs inside the church or cemetery at the funeral.
