BAS Shortlisted for British Construction Industry Awards (BCI)
British Antarctic Survey and the partners delivering the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme are finalists for this year’s British Construction Industry (BCI) Awards in the ‘Partnership Initiative of the Year’ category.
The team includes UK Research and Innovation and the Natural Environment Research Council, British Antarctic Survey (BAS), Technical Advisor Ramboll, with NORR Architects and Turner and Townsend and Construction Partner BAM Nuttall, with their design partner Sweco and Hugh Broughton architects.
David Seaton, Head of Construction at British Antarctic Survey said: “Sharing the successes of the collaboration and partnership is hugely important to BAS, we want to showcase what can be achieved with a long-term approach to large infrastructure projects and leave a legacy that others in the industry can follow.”
Working together on the transformation of polar-science infrastructure the team is ensuring the UK continues to deliver world-leading science research. In this 10-year Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP), the partners are delivering cutting edge and innovative design, bringing together a wide range of sustainability expertise and are committed to getting the right solution. The partnership that is based on trust and cooperation has led to many benefits, including effective programme decisions, a joined-up approach to risk management and a team of committed individuals who share in BAS’s vision.
The team has already completed three AIMP projects, and despite extraordinary technical, logistical, and environmental challenges, all were delivered on programme and budget, with excellent health, safety, quality and environmental performance and feedback from a wide range of stakeholders.
The AIMP partnership showcases how, even in the most extreme circumstances, commitment to long-term genuine collaborative partnerships can deliver optimal performance in project delivery.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 13th October. Find out more about the nomination on the British Construction Industry Awards website.
