Bergs and bytes: polar data in action
With events from astronomy to zoology, the 2016 Cambridge Science Festival (7 – 20 March) welcomes everyone to explore and discuss science.
What’s it like to work in 24-hour darkness when temperatures drop below minus 20°C? How is data collected from the depths of the Southern Ocean? Can you really spot penguin poo from space? If you’re curious to know more about extreme data collection, join scientists from the British Antarctic Survey for our Family Day. As well as answering your most searching questions, there will be demonstrations of the data collection equipment they use, and the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities.
Family Open Day: All ages – Free drop in event with hands on activities.
