Instruments for measuring biological microclimates for terrestrial habitats in polar and high alpine regions: a review

Equipment suitable for measuring temperature, solar radiation, humidity, and wind speed is reviewed together with problems encountered during field use in cold climates. The importance of matching the type of measurement to the biological problem is stressed and probable sources of error are identified.
