These images, all taken by members of Operation Tabarin, have been printed from scans of the original transparencies or glass plate negatives held at BAS.
In total BAS holds c.1800 images taken during the expedition. Information about each was captured at the time and, together with the original reports, journals and personal diaries, the collection forms a uniquely detailed and comprehensive account of the Operation and the nature of Antarctic scientific research at this time, created by those involved.
These images are included in the BAS inscription onto the UNESCO UK Memory of the World Register, which recognises documentary heritage of outstanding significance to the UK.
